Good Friday is April 18th. We are encouraging everyone to impact their community by focusing on the cross of Christ. Invite friends, neighbors, family, or whoever God has put in your life that you want to bring in to reflect on the work of Jesus on the cross.

Remember, we should not be legalistic about this opportunity. Maybe April 18th is not the day that works best, or maybe evening doesn’t work but morning does! Our hope is not that you follow something perfectly, but rather that you inspire yourself and others to reflect on the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Here are some ideas on how you can bring Good Friday to your home/community:

  • Watch our “Good Friday” devo on Youtube.
  • Plan a journey through a park or trails and intentionally stop at different times to reflect on different aspects of the gospel.
  • Take someone to do your favorite hobby (photography, fish, hike, golf) and discuss the gospel.
  • Offer to help someone with their garden, and use Jesus references to gardening as a topic of discussion.
  • Have a bible study in your home.
  • Have a Mediterranean inspired dinner, and discuss Jesus references to the different types of foods you eat.
  • Discuss the impact of the cross and resurrection on your life.
  • Book a time to go see the “Chosen” in theaters (this might be before or after good Friday depending on your availability).

Spiritual disciplines you might consider prior to hosting at your home:

  • Do the 7Fast.
  • Do a different fast.
  • Intentional silence and solitude in remembrance of the solitude and silence Jesus experienced.
  • Read each of the gospel’s accounts of the cross:
    • Example: Luke 22-24
  • Meditate on key gospel/cross texts like:
    • Isaiah 53:3-7
    • Romans 5:12-15
    • Phil. 2:5-11

Lord’s Supper considerations:

  • For this Good Friday time, we want to encourage you to invite people who may not be believers and people who are coming back into the church for the first time. Therefore, our emphasis is not on taking the sacraments as believers, but rather considering the sacrifice of Jesus in the gospels. We will take the sacrament together on Sunday morning as a church body.
